Becoming Whole – What Breath, Soil & Superfoods Taught Me About Skin, Stress & Self

Becoming Whole – What Breath, Soil & Superfoods Taught Me About Skin, Stress & Self

Have you heard of Zach Bush MD? If not, let me introduce you to a man who has become somewhat of a north star in my wellness journey. A triple board-certified physician in internal medicine, endocrinology and hospice care, Zach has evolved far beyond the traditional medical model. He’s now a global educator in the fields of microbiome science, regenerative farming, and cellular health, speaking to the innate intelligence of nature, the body, and our interconnectedness with all things.

I had the privilege of attending one of his talks a couple of years ago—and when I say it cracked me open, I mean it quite literally and metaphorically. His words landed in the deeper layers of my being. Since then, I’ve followed his work with the kind of reverence one might offer a wise elder or a beautifully annotated recipe book that never fails you.

So naturally, when I saw that he was part of an immersive experience titled ‘Becoming Whole’ at the beautiful Spier Wine Farm, I immediately said yes. Spier, with its sun-drenched vineyards, chattering birdlife, and truly remarkable regenerative farming practices, already feels like a second home to my soul. But what happened there yesterday shifted me again.

The breathwork session—led by the deeply intuitive Talitha Kotzé, alongside Dr Leila Sadien and Lucie McGregor was a revelation. I came in with a stiff, aching hip that had been nagging me for weeks (possibly months if I'm honest), and I left pain-free and fully mobile. Now I’m not saying I floated out of there like a yogic butterfly, but something very real had shifted, not just in my body—but in my emotional landscape.

The biggest takeaway? That fear, guilt and shame are the primary emotional drivers of stress, and this stress infiltrates every system in our bodies—including our skin. Zach’s work reiterates something I’ve felt and shared for years: our skin biome mirrors our emotional and environmental ecosystems. If your emotional soil is parched with shame, or overburdened by fear, your skin will show it—often with inflammation, sensitivity, or imbalance.

This is precisely why, when I created Eco Diva Natural, it wasn’t just about clean skincare for the sake of marketing. It was about skin as a mirror of your inner ecosystem—an organ of perception and detoxification, deeply responsive to emotional and environmental stimuli. That’s why every product in our range is infused with bio-identical superfoods, formulated to feed and nourish the skin biome while offering the nervous system something far deeper than hydration. It’s resonance. Self-care. Reconnection.

I believe that when you apply skincare with reverence—as a ritual and not just a routine—you’re not just softening your skin. You’re softening your self-talk, your breath, your presence.

Maybe this is your sign to gift yourself the peace you’re craving. To let your skin, your breath, your emotional self—feel seen, nourished, and held.

Here’s to healing hips, clear skin, regenerative soil, and becoming whole—one breath, one botanical, one brave step at a time.

So yes, while I came for breath and stayed for healing, I left with a renewed sense of purpose. A reminder that everything is connected—from soil, to soul, to skin.

If you’ve been waiting for a sign to pause, reset, and nourish yourself, this is it. You can find our superfood skincare range in the new boutique hotel at Spier. And it's a beautiful experience to be there for so many different reasons.

And as synchronicity would have it, there are just a few days left of our Xmas in July sale — 20% off our entire clean, kind, award-winning skincare range until 31 July.

Let it be your ritual. Your self-care. Your return to wholeness.
